Dog & Puppy Training Classes

Building a strong foundation with your dog starts here! Whether you have a brand-new puppy or an adult dog looking to refine their skills and earn certifications, our positive, reward-based training classes are designed to help you and your dog succeed together.

All 4 PAWSitive LLC is certified by Animal Behavior College and located in Sandy Hook, CT. Teaching Basic- and Advanced Obedience and modifying behavior problems.

Registration Begins: Thursday, October 1st @ 9:00am

Location: Bigelow Center for Senior Activities 
Time: 4:00pm - 5:00pm
Dog Age Requirement: Puppies 10 weeks to 6 months old. Must be accompanied by an Adult, 18+
Fee: $250/6 weeks

Give your puppy the best possible start in life! S.T.A.R. stands for Socialization, Training, Activity, and Responsibility. Designed by the American Kennel Club (AKC), this program focuses on early socialization, critical developmental habits, and practical life skills. AKC S.T.A.R. Test: In Week 6, puppies will take the official AKC S.T.A.R. Puppy Test.

What You & Your Puppy Will Learn:

  • Core Obedience: Sit, down, stay, coming when called, leave it and drop it.
  • Leash Manners: Basic loose-leash walking and passing near other dogs or people calmly.
  • Handling & Socialization: Accepting gentle petting from others, basic coat/ear/paw handling, and comfortable harness/collar wear.
  • Troubleshooting Common Behaviors: Managing puppy biting, chewing, house training, and impulse control.
  • Responsible Ownership: Building exercise routines, health upkeep, and everyday puppy care.

Vaccination & Health Requirements

To ensure the safety and health of all our human and canine participants, proof of age-appropriate vaccinations is required prior to attending the first class.

  • DHPP / DAPP Vaccine (Distemper, Hepatitis/Adenovirus, Parvovirus, Parainfluenza):
    • Puppies: Must have completed at least their initial puppy series rounds (typically a minimum of two DHPP/DAPP vaccinations) appropriate for their age prior to attending class.
  • Rabies Vaccine:
    • Puppies: Required as soon as the puppy reaches the legal/veterinary age requirement (typically between 12 to 16 weeks).

Note: Please submit a copy of your dog’s veterinary records or vaccination certificate prior to or on the first day of class. Records can be send to all4pawsitive@gmail.com

What to Bring to Class

  • A standard 6 ft fabric or leather leash (No retractable/Flexi leashes).
  • A flat buckle collar, martingale, or well-fitted harness.
  • High-value treats cut into tiny, bite-sized pieces.
  • A treat pouch to keep rewards easily accessible.

Designed for adolescent or adult dogs with little to no formal training. Beginner Level 1 focuses on clear communication, impulse control, and establishing reliable core behaviors.

Key Focus Areas:

  • Essential Commands: Reliable Sit, Down, Stay, and Emergency Recall (Come).
  • Loose-Leash Walking: Learning to walk comfortably next to you without pulling or lunging.
  • Impulse Control: Polite greetings (no jumping on people), "Leave It," and "Drop It."
  • Focus Under Distraction: Keeping your dog’s attention around other dogs, unfamiliar sounds, and busy environments.
  • Confidence Building: Helping shy or easily excited dogs become calm, confident companions.

Vaccination & Health Requirements

    • Adult Dogs: Proof of up-to-date booster or current titer test.
  • Rabies Vaccine:
    • Adult Dogs: Proof of current 1-year or 3-year Rabies vaccination.

Please note: Programs may be canceled if minimum enrollment is not met.
If a program is canceled, registered participants will receive a full refund.
